Mustang

In the rain shadow, beyond the gigantic mountain massifs of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, lies the remote Kingdom of Lho, fondly known as Mustang – the once forbidden country. Starkly contrasting every other landscape of Nepal, the semi-arid desert is a traveller’s delight with its multi-coloured rock formations, high barren cliffs, sculpted mysterious cave dwellings, undisturbed villages, age-old culture and practices, all within the ice-cap circle of towering snow-capped Himalayan peaks. Much has been written of Mustang – from early European explorers to modern philosophers, yet the mysteries and allure of Mustang remains as much relevant today.
